Shashank Gupta

Shashank Gupta is Principal Photonics Engineer and chip lead at Lightmatter, where he drives the advancement of next-generation photonic integrated circuits for optical interconnects. Among the company’s earliest employees, he helped establish Lightmatter’s core capabilities in photonics design and architecture, integrated photonics–electronics co-design, and allied areas such as packaging. Shashank holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he developed silicon-compatible optical interconnect technologies based on strained-germanium light sources. His prior experience includes developing high-speed electro-absorption modulators at Imec and contributing to germanium transistor pathfinding at Applied Materials.
