Bijan Nowroozi

Bijan Nowroozi is Head of Ecosystem Development at Lightmatter, a role focused on aligning the company’s silicon photonics technologies with market requirements, AI system architectures, and industry specifications. He drives strategy and collaboration across the production supply chain, standards organizations, and hyperscalers to accelerate the adoption of photonic computing and co-packaged optics. With three decades of experience, Bijan is a technologist who specializes in turning advanced research into scalable infrastructure. As the former CTO of the Open Compute Project (OCP) Foundation, he guided technology strategy and advanced open specifications for hardware, software, and data center architectures supporting AI/ML systems, high-speed networking, and silicon photonics. His earlier work includes developing long-term platform architectures at JVCKENWOOD and founding two technology ventures, Aerietau and SONLTE. Roles at Samsung, PageNet, and Nortel involved engineering development and leadership through major technology transitions. Bijan holds a degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin.
