Guide 1 EVK

Lasers redefined for the CPO era

Guide 1 is more than a laser; it is the industry’s first Very Large Scale Photonics (VLSP) light engine. Designed to fuel the most demanding AI fabrics, Guide 1 consolidates massive optical power into a single, software-defined light source—eliminating the “laser farm” bottleneck that is constraining the industry.

The Shift

From Laser Farms to Light Engines

Unleashing the photonic revolution requires a scalable, reliable, and integrated light source.

Until now, scaling optical I/O meant building “laser farms”—sprawling arrays of discrete external laser pluggable (ELSFP) modules that consume faceplate space, complicate thermal design, and introduce hundreds of points of failure.

Guide changes the math. By integrating high-power laser arrays into a compact module, Lightmatter creates a universal light engine that scales with I/O, not against it.

Performance

Deep Tech and Engineering

Guide 1 powers up to 51 Tbps of I/O, replacing the output of nine ELSFP light sources with a single Guide light engine. This consolidation simplifies system design while dramatically improving power efficiency and optical density.

01 – Optical Architecture

16λ DWDM Output

Guide 1 features a tight O-band wavelength grid centered at 1310 nm. Each module supports interleaved sets of 16 wavelengths per pair of fibers, enabling efficient bidirectional communication layouts across 32 fibers in a stacked configuration.

02 – Power

≥100 mW Per Fiber

Guide 1 is built on a tile-based architecture. This modularity enables scalable output, ranging from 1.6W in a single package up to 3.5W in a stacked configuration.

03 – Control

Software-Defined Precision

Spectral stability is the primary enemy of optical performance. Guide 1 features an integrated controller that maintains sub-GHz wavelength precision through active thermal management and real-time, closed-loop control.

Through a standard CMIS-compliant interface, Guide 1 provides deep telemetry into laser health, power levels, and spectral stability—giving you total control over your optical infrastructure from the software layer.

Innovation

A Universal External Light Source for the Entire Industry

Guide 1 wasn’t just built for Passage. It was built to be the gold standard for every Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), Near-Packaged Optics (NPO), and On-Board Optics (OBO) solution on the market.

CPO Ready

Seamless integration with Co-Packaged Optics for the highest-density switch and GPU packages.

NPO/OBO

Flexible deployment for Near-Packaged and On-Board Optics, providing reach and reliability.

Standard Fiber

Compatible with industry-standard single-mode fiber and Corning Flexconnect systems.
